INSTRUCTOR COURSESF.I.T. (FUNDAMENTALS OF INSTRUCTOR TRAINING)This course introduces instructor candidates to the history, structure, and activities of the American Red Cross, and is a prerequisite for all instructor candidate courses. Topics covered include the learning environment, class organization, and teaching methodologies.

CPR/AED FOR THE LAY RESPONDER and/or PROFESSIONAL RESCUER INSTRUCTORThis course is designed for already skilled individuals who wish to become certified American Red Cross instructors. Candidates develop an understanding of course materials, how to conduct training sessions, methods used to evaluate student progress, how to prepare and submit course records, etc. Candidates are certified as lay instructors after successful completion of the Lay Responder section of the course. Professional Rescuer and Emergency Response candidates continue on after the Lay Responder section, and are certified upon successful completion of the remaining course sections.
Please note:
First Aid, CPR, and AED skills are not taught during instructor
classes. Each candidate must be able to demonstrate basic skills at
the level of authorization they are seeking during the pre-course test
session. Each candidate must also be certified in F.I.T. with in the
last twelve months.
BABYSITTER INSTRUCTORThis course is designed for individuals who wish to become certified American Red Cross Babysitter instructors. Candidates develop an understanding of course materials, how to conduct training sessions, methods used to evaluate student progress, how to prepare and submit course records, etc. Topics also include basic child care, activities, and preventative safety measures.

PET FIRST AID FOR CATS & DOGS INSTRUCTOR SELF-STUDYIndividuals wishing to take this course must be current American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED instructors. Please call the Health & Safety Services department for more information. Cost: Free
