LEADER-BASED AND PEER-TO-PEER PROGRAMS

Through the Red Cross Leader-Based and Peer to Peer Educational Program you can take advantage of local leadership opportunities. By becoming a Peer Educator in F.A.C.T. (First Aid For Children Today), B.A.T. (Basic Aid Training), or Whale Tales you will interact with children of all ages and make a lasting differnce in their lives. As an instructor you’ll learn valuable leadership, organizational, and teaching skills. Don’t pass up this fantastic opportunity!

You do not need to be a certified American Red Cross Instructor to teach these classes so if you like working with kids and are interested in being a Leader-Based or Peer-to-Peer Educator please call 973-538-2160 for more information.

BASIC AID TRAINING

Our Basic Aid Training Program introduces children (4th-6th grade) to safety information and first aid procedures for breathing difficulties, bleeding, poisoning, burns, shock and other emergencies. Each lesson is approximately 1.5 hours.

F.A.C.T.

The F.A.C.T. (First Aid for Children Today) program is a fun path for children (K-3) to discover ways to help themselves and others, be aware of dangers, prevent injuries and harm, and respond when injuries do happen. The program is broken into six lessons, approximately 1.5 hours each.

WHALE TALES

The purpose of Whales Tales is to teach children (K-6) about safe behavior in and around water. This program does not require access to the water.

GUARD START

Focusing on prevention, fitness, response, leadership, and professionalism, Guard Start introduces children age 11-14 to lifeguarding. This program gives children the knowledge, attitude and skills to prepare them for lifeguarding.
