Opportunity Knocks:  DO YOU KNOW A HERO?  Someone who has performed an extraordinary act of courage to save a life or gone above and beyond the call of duty to help another person?

If you do, then help us to celebrate this person and their bravery by nominating them for an American Red Cross Bravo for Bravery Award.  The Northwest New Jersey Chapter is now accepting nominations to salute these everyday heroes and pay tribute to their unselfish and heroic deeds.  Nomination due February 16th.

Opportunity Knocks:  All County Garage Sale Morristown Armory

The All-County Garage Sale is returning to the Morristown National Guard Armory on March 24, 2007. This is an optimal fundraising opportunity for your school/organization, and a great chance to sell any garage sale merchandise your school families don’t want while raising money for your school/organization.  Table reservations due February 16th.

Volunteer Activity:  High School Students:  Become a Peer Educator!  Great opportunity for future teachers!

Purpose:  The Red Cross offers opportunities for youth to train preschool and elementary aged children. We are offering to train you on how to present Scrubby Bear and Disaster Preparedness. Both programs are approximately 30 minutes long, and they are easy and fun to present. This is a great opportunity to earn leadership and service hours while working with children!

When The Weather Outside Is Frightful, Keep Fires Delightful and Safe:  Dropping temperatures across the country this time of year typically prompt a rise in the use of alternative heat sources such as fireplaces, wood or coal-burning stoves and space heaters to stay warm, and unfortunately can result in an increase in the number of home fire incidents.   http://www.redcross.org/article/0,1072,0_312_5920,00.html
